64da57e0c7 more test fixes: 
- include "main" test file which can be configured through various
  options
- include sample ssl test files
- add boilerplate async test

91717bd15c basic gtest implementation 
Note that this does require that gtest be installed in
`contrib/gtest`. This should be done using the `get_gtest` script.
